Our Goal

Our Building

Sustainability at every level

Opened August 2008, the winery was built under the draft Green Building Code and was the first winery in the world to be accredited CarboNZeroCertTM from inception.  Aesthetically, the building is designed to blend into the landscape with no disruptive contours.

Meet our Winemakers

Chief Winemaker

Jeff Fyfe

With a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from Lincoln University, five years working with Villa Maria in Marlborough plus vintage experience in Burgundy, California and Tasmania, Jeff’s well-placed to oversee winemaking and operations. Jeff joined Yealands in 2009 and has been making wine in Marlborough for 14 years.

His enthusiasm for his role covers both Yealands’ commitment to sustainability and the breadth of the wine styles he gets to work with, from the classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to Austrian inspired Grüner Veltliner grapes. If he had to pick his favourite grapes to work with it would be Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Noir, but he’s excited to see the quality of the aromatics coming from the Seaview Vineyard- Gruner Veltliner, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Jeff works closely with our Vineyard Manager Gareth to make the most of the exceptional quality of fruit produced at Seaview. When Jeff’s not hard at work in the winery he enjoys spending time with his family and fishing the beautiful Marlborough Sounds.

Natalie then took on a Winemaker role at Matahiwi Estate in the Wairarapa. From there she went to Spain, working for Jorge Ordonez Group on their Albarino project in Rias Baixas North West Spain and their Muscadel project down in Malaga. Natalie loves cooking, travelling, playing her double bass and cryptic crosswords.
