Have yourself a very merry Christmas!
Last week we gathered a group of friends of Yealands for a festive and fun evening of wine tasting and gingerbread house decorating in London. We hosted the event at the beautiful Swan at The Globe on the River Thames, with stunning views over to St Paul’s Cathedral and the iconic Globe Theatre all lit up for the festive season next door.
We started the evening with a perfectly chilled glass of Yealands Sauvignon Blanc paired beautifully with Scottish smoked salmon & caviar canapés. We then tasted the premium Yealands Reserve Sauvignon Blanc and lovely pink Yealands Sauvignon Blanc Blush, served with more tasty bites including vegan feta, roast butternut squash & crushed pumpkin seed skewer, and Cashel Blue, pear and grape tartlet.
With our creative juices flowing, we began the gingerbread house decorating class under the expert guidance of Farley from Lady Berry Cupcakes. Farley taught us how to assemble the house making sure it was structurally sound (there were a few wobbly walls at first!) and once the roof was on, we could finish decorating and making cute little fondant snowmen for the outside - we even had a few creative guests make some pets! Everyone produced beautiful gingerbread houses which were then boxed up for the journey home.
We finished the evening with delicious wild mushroom and truffle risotto, which one guest declared was the best match to Yealands Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, followed by everyone’s favourite dish for Savvy B - mini bowls of fish & chips!
