This week at the winery our grape vines came out of winter dormancy and the buds of this years grapes pushed out of their canes.
Bud burst is an extremely important time in the vineyard. As it is still early spring here in New Zealand, our weather can be quite unpredictable. These small buds will become the vine leaves and flowers in a couple months time. Therefore a drastic cold spell or high winds can damage the buds - affecting this years yield and quality.
Our vineyard team is keeping a careful eye on our vines as they navigate through this vital time. We're excited to follow these grapes through the 2018/19 growing season!
