Yealands Sauvignon Blanc Champions at Marlborough Wine Show

Yealands have proved themselves as Sauvignon Blanc champions at the 2017 Marlborough Wine Show, after being awarded the Wineworks Trophy for Champion Sauvignon Blanc for their 2017 Peter Yealands Reserve Sauvignon Blanc at the celebration dinner on 26th October.

The Marlborough Wine Show celebrates wines produced from a minimum of 95% Marlborough grapes, and with Marlborough making a name for itself around the globe as the spiritual home of Sauvignon Blanc, this is a truly sought-after trophy.  All wines entered into the competition are judged by three panels of expert judges, led by Chair, Oliver Masters, with top performing wines being awarded trophies, gold, silver and bronze medals.

Peter Yealands Reserve wines showcase the best of the Peter Yealands range.  Yealands describe them as vibrant and pure and a real celebration of the region.  Also awarded to Yealands was a Gold Medal for their 2017 Yealands Estate Single Block S1 Sauvignon Blanc, showcasing the distinctive flavours from one particular, sun-soaked site, moderated by cool, coastal breezes, a mere 42-95 metres above sea level.

“Receiving the Champion Sauvignon Blanc trophy for our 2017 Peter Yealands Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, when you consider that it has been judged alongside so many other outstanding Sauvignon Blanc wines from the Marlborough region, is truly remarkable,” says Jeff Fyfe, Chief Winemaker for Yealands.  “My team were there to collect the trophy on the night, and I can tell you, it was big smiles all round when they heard the result.”

In total Yealands were awarded 29 medals at this year’s competition.
