This week at the winery our contract team is busy completing our first round of wire lifting! Each year after pruning, our top trellis wires are brought down to the same level as the bottom fruiting wire. Now that the vines have started to grow, the wire is lifted back up to hold up the new shoots. Keeping the new shoots upright allows more sunlight to reach the fruiting zone which helps ripen our grapes to the perfect sugar level. This is the first wire lift of three that will be completed across our vineyard this growing season.
