With enough personality and power to stay the course, Yealands scored the tricky Green Thai Curry Food Match Trophy with this textured wine. 'With stone fruit and lemons, this is a richer, riper style,' said Annette Scarfe MW, suggesting seafood or drinking as an aperitif. 'Fresh, super-ripe fruit and high acidity with green apple and gooseberry notes, and a good clean finish,' said James Hocking of The Vineyard Group. Awarded - * Gold

A beautifully fragrant tempranillo, the inviting bouquet shows dark plum, blueberry, floral and spice characters with a hint of roasted nut complexity. The palate is succulent and rounded, and offers silky texture and supple tannins. It is upfront and tasty, and finishes long and juicy. At its best: now to 2019. Sam Kim- *91/100

Yealands Estate Winemakers Reserve Awatere Valley Pinot Noir

Michael Cooper - Yealands Estate Winemakers Reserve Pinot Noir

1 December 2015

Michael Coopers Buyer's Guide

The classy, powerful yet elegant 2014 vintage was estate-grown on an elevated (180 metres above sea level), north-facing slope in the Willowflat Vineyard and matured for a year in French oak barriques (15 per cent new). Deep ruby, it is fleshy, concentrated and supple, with very generous plum/spice flavours, complex and savoury. A rich, harmonious and very 'complete' wine, it should be at its best 2017+. * 5 Stars.

Daily Telegraph - Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc 2014

A bright and very inviting sauvignon blanc. The grapes come from two Marlborough sub-zones. Those from the Awatere Valley contribute verdancy: flavours of crunchy green capsicums, freshly podded peas and green tomatoes. Those from the warmer Wairau offer more star fruit, passion fruit and a tinge of blackcurrant leaf. Bold and refreshing.
