Vineyard Update February 2016

The 2015/16 season in Marlborough has been tracking close to average from a temperature viewpoint. Marlborough’s unique grape flavours, their vibrancy, intensity and freshness, are largely due to its climate which includes warm days and cools nights. That is, it is not too hot and not too cold.

Tamra's Australian Tour 2015

Last week, our Chief Winemaker spent some time in Australia. It was a busy week starting off with a private tasting with Onceuponawine, followed by a very special Yealands Winemaker Dinner at STUDIO, created by Sydney Tower Executive Chef, Elton Inglis. On Wednesday night she had a fabulous time wining and dining with The Fabulous Ladies Wine Society in Melbourne.

Yealands Harvest begins!

Kick off for vintage 2015 at Yealands Family Wines has begun!

Yealands Estate Vineyard Harvest 2015

This morning saw the very first fruit for our 2015 harvest be picked. It was a beautiful morning to harvest, nice and cool (only 1 Degree!) so perfect conditions to bring in the Pinot Noir. We have had a very warm, dry growing season, the flavours are developing well and the bunches are filling out nicely.

Here’s to a successful V15... Cheers!

Diversity between the vines

If you travel down Seaview Road at the moment, you may notice that every 10 rows have a different ground cover to the grasses which are usually seen. These rows have been sown with a combination of buckwheat, mustard, lupins and phacelia.
